If you leave all search criteria at their default value ("Any") you will get access to all records in the database. Combining keywords to narrow your searchYou can limit your search by selecting keywords of four different categories: Measures | Sectors | Countries | Pollutants Example 1: Choosing Benzene as pollutant will return only records where benzene has been assigned as keyword. Example 2: Choosing Benzene as pollutant and Industry as sector will return only records where benzene AND Industry have been assigned as keywords. Combining keywords to broaden your searchWithin each category you may choose several keywords by pressing the Ctrl key while clicking your mouse. Choosing several keywords within one category broadens your search. Text searchUse free text search to search for an author name or for a characteristic word or phrase. Example: "climate change" Advanced free text search allows you to narrow your search by defining two or three phases. Example: "Jones" AND "climate change" All fields in the database are searched (e.g., summaries are searched). Your search is narrowed it you combine text search with a selection of keywords. Selecting a country:If you limit your search to a single country - say, Germany - you will receive hits only for items where Germany plays a prominent role. You will not receive hits for items with information which is common to many European countries. If you are looking for such items, select "Europe" (or possibly "Any") in the Country drop-down box. Selecting a pollutantIf you are looking for information on PM10 or PM2.5, then use the keyword "particles". If you are looking for information on NO2, then use the keyword "Nitrogen oxides"
