  Aim
The CREAM training site will educate a new generation of PhD students who are specifically trained to extract interesting and relevant information from the routine collection of data in monitoring programmes. They will be trained to use that information to gain knowledge about how marine systems operate in order to evaluate anthropogenic and climatic impacts upon the marine environment.

Cream and the Water Framework Directive
CREAM will contribute to the European Community in particular within the basic principles outlined in the Water Framework Directive (WFD) and within the Fifth Framework Program.

The implementation of the WFD in Europe implies that every country, county, city and village in Europe will have responsibilities founded in the WFD. The implementation plan is one of the most comprehensive and ambitious plans for the entire European Community, and CREAM will contribute significantly to the training of a new generation of environmental scientists, administrators and managers who have educational capabilities to handle the WFD.
