Danish Centre for River Restoration - DCVR
Welcome to the homepage of the Danish Centre for River Restoration (Dansk Center
for Vandløbsrestaurering - DCVR)
DCVR is a network that brings together people working with river restoration in Denmark.
DCVR ensures that Danish information on river restoration is collected, processed
and disseminated through newsletters, through this home page and by the organising
of meetings etc.
In time, the Centre will be able to provide an increasing amount of information
on river restoration and an overview of measures taken in different parts of
Denmark. DCVR therefore hope that anybody, who can contribute with relevant
information or experiences, whether good or bad, will forward this information
to the centre.
The network comprises representatives from the Danish county authorities, local
authorities, private companies and a considerable number of private individuals.
The National Environmental Research Institute (NERI)
currently leads the DCVR. The participants are always free to contact the Centre.
DCVR is the Danish national network under the
European Centre for River Restoration (ECRR) established in 1995.
While DCVR is mainly occupied with Danish issues concerning river restoration,
ECRR is involved in international issues.
One of the main objectives of the ECRR is to facilitate the exchange of information
and experiences on restoration of rivers and riparian areas and thereby advocate
river restoration in as many European countries as possible. The establishment
of a network of national networks in all European countries is one way of achieving
this goal. DCVR are the main contact point between the participants in the
Danish network and the ECRR.
Anyone interested in river restoration can become a participant of DCVR by simply
clicking on Registration in the menu.
If you are interested in river restoration at an international scale you can
become a participant of ECRR. You can register your membership on
www.ECRR.org
Database on river restoration projects
The Danish Centre for River Restoration in co-operation with the Danish counties
and the British River
Restoration Centre (RRC) , have developed a river restoration classification
system and created a database on Danish river restoration projects. For more
information on the database click here.
