Bay of Løgten
The Bay of Løgten is situated in the Northern part of the Bay of Århus (see map).
The Bay of Århus is 315 km2 large. Water depth increases gradually from the coast to 10 m depth at a distance of 0.5-1 km from the coastline. The mean depth of the area is 13.6 m.
The test area in Løgten Bay comprises a large extensive area (approximately 2km2) which has been covered by remotely sensed images, and a small intensive area (approximately ½km2) where detailed studies of basic optical parameters for fine-calibration of the remote sensing system have been made. The sediment consists mainly of sand, and the whole test area is dominated by eelgrass meadows in the depth interval from 1 to 7 m.
The vegetation in the Bay of Århus has been investigated by RESCOMAN. Further investigations have been conducted by the county of Århus and made assessible for RESCOMAN (see for example Århus Amt 1998).
