European Rivers and Lakes. Assessment of their Environmental State.

Summary: The importance and intensive use of fresh water makes it a vulnerable and limited resource. However, the priority and management of this resource throughout Europe differ from country to country.

This report is one of the first to attempt an all-European assessment of the state of inland surface waters prepared as part of the overall environmental Dobrís assessment. It aims at providing a detailed overview for use as a basis for implementing general measures to improve the environmental state of rivers and lakes, and to identify areas with environmental problems.
