Europe's Environment : The Dobris Assessments

Note: The Report on the State of the PanEuropean Environment Requested by the Environment Ministers for the Whole of Europe at the Ministerial Conference held at Dobris Castle, Czecholovakia, June 1991. Prepared by the European Environment Agency Task Force (European Commission) in Cooperation with: United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), The Council of Europe, World Conservation Union, World Health Organisation (WHO) together with Eurostat and individual European countries.

It is one of 500 numbered colour preprints of the final report which has been specially prepared for distribution at the UN World Summit for Social Development in Copenhagen, 612 March 1995, in order to promote the broad dissemination of the results of this assessment. The report includes all material in its final form except for last corrections and final proofreading.

Summary: The report covers the state of the environment in Europe of nearly 50 countries. It analyses different environmental "fields" (such as air, water, soil, nature, wildlife and urban), and looks at the pressures and the problems they can lead to. The report was requested by the environment ministers for the whole of Europe at the ministerial conference held at DobNs Castle, Czechoslovakia, June 1991..
